I’m honored to officially announce that the Newington Democrats unanimously endorsed me to run for Mayor. I’m humbled to have my party’s support, and I’m excited to get to work with a motivated and enthusiastic slate of candidates!
I’m in this race because I’m fighting for a future where Newington finally lives up to our motto—growth and progress.
It’s crucial for Newington to resume a pattern of growth. Property revaluation in 2020 masked what our Town Assessor referred to as “sluggish” growth over the past three years. In 2020, only two tenths of a percent of the increase in our Grand List was due to new economic development growth.
We can and must do better than “sluggish.” Let’s ensure that our town’s economic future is in the hands of an expert, full time Economic Development Director. We can largely credit any projects that are in progress now to our last Economic Development Director’s hard work. Restoring that position will get us back on track toward long term growth.
Let’s bring progress to Newington by working together to create a pandemic recovery for all. With over $8.8 million in recovery funding coming to our town, we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to invest in a more vibrant future for everyone in Newington.
That means moving toward a universal pre-k pilot for kids and families, increasing the accessibility of government services for seniors, and addressing long-ignored infrastructure needs.
I’m asking for your vote on November 2nd so that we can bring growth and progress back to the community we all love. Together, we can shape a better and brighter future for Newington!
